What is the theme of the hackathon?

Empowering ESG Innovation

We’re challenging you to create innovative solutions that help organizations and communities enhance their ESG performance. Whether it’s a new app, a data analysis tool, or a community project, your goal is to make a positive impact in the areas of sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance.

What is ESG?

    • Environmental: Refers to whether the organization is operating as a steward of the environment and covers environmental issues like climate change, greenhouse  gas emissions, deforestation, biodiversity, carbon emissions, waste management and pollution.
    • Social: Refers to the impact the organization has on people, culture and communities and looks at the social impact of diversity, inclusivity, human rights and supply chains.
    • Governance: Refers to how the organization is directed and looks at corporate governance factors like executive compensation, succession planning, board management practices and shareholder rights.

What is the format of the hackathon?

Students will be split into teams, based on business cases. The business cases will be distributed at the kick-off meeting on 16th October.

Each team will have two weeks to develop their ideas, project proposals, and prepare to pitch for the final presentation on 6th November.

To enhance their learning experience  students will be supported by business mentors from the respective company partner and project mentor from the PMI Bulgaria Chapter.

What are the general guidelines?

Students will be assessed based on their group work and the following deliverables:

  • Generate solution options to the provided business case (problem statement) and validate your choice with the business mentor.
  • Develop a project charter and validate it with the project mentor (Template with guidelines will be provided during the kick-off meeting).
