Eligibility

Bulgarian Project Management Awards 2025

A project will need to meet the criteria listed below to be eligible to apply. Additional criteria might apply per category and they are specified in the application document you will be able to download after you register your interest. 

There will be 3 final candidates per category: one winner and two finalists will be awarded

Project Origin and Leadership:

  • Projects must be initiated in Bulgaria.
  • The Project Manager and/or a majority of the Project Management Team must be based in Bulgaria.

Open to All Sectors:

  • Projects and organizations from any industry, whether public, private, or non-profit, are eligible to apply.

Membership Not Required:

  • Applicants do not need to be members of PMI Bulgaria Chapter or any other professional project management association.

Nominee Representation:

  • If the nominee represents an organization, they must be an employee, legal representative, or possess formal written consent from the organization at the time of application.

Recognition History:

  • Projects that have previously received awards or recognition from other professional associations remain eligible.

Project Completion Status:

  • Projects must be completed no later than 18 months ago, or at a minimum, the main phase or Minimum Viable Product (MVP) must be finalized before application submission
  • Written confirmation of project completion or phase acceptance by the project Sponsor is required prior to the nomination.

Language of Submission:

  • All applications must be submitted in English.
  • Candidates for the ‘Project Professional of the Year’ award must have a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in project management as of the application submission date.
  • Participation Criteria for NGOs: The organization must be registered as a non-governmental, non-profit organization under applicable Bulgarian laws (or internationally, if part of a cross-border project based in Bulgaria).
  • Candidates for the ‘Project Team of the Year’ award must have a team consisting of a minimum of four individuals.

The following individuals and organizations are not eligible to participate in the Project Management Awards:

Outdated Projects:

  • Projects that were completed more than 18 months prior to the nomination deadline are not eligible.

Incomplete Submissions:

  • Projects or nominees who fail to provide the required contact information, permissions, release forms, or do not meet the eligibility criteria outlined in this document will be disqualified.

PMI Affiliates:

  • Current staff, contractors, and consultants of PMI Global or PMI Bulgaria Chapter are not eligible to apply for or be nominated for any award category.

Third-Party Nominations:

  • Consultants, trainers, or third-party service providers are not permitted to submit nominations on behalf of an individual or organization.

Organizational Representation:

  • Nominees who represent an organization must either:
    Be an employee or a legally contracted representative of the organization, or
    Provide documented legal consent from the registered entity at the time of application.
  • Failure to demonstrate a valid association with the organization will result in disqualification.

To ensure fairness and balanced participation, please take note of the following limitations when submitting nominations:

Maximum Number of Applications per Organization:

  • Each organization may submit up to three (3) applications across all award categories.

Self-Nominations:

  • Individuals who wish to nominate themselves must obtain formal approval from their employer or client (in the case of self-employed professionals).

Third-Party Nominations:

  • A third party (e.g., consultant, colleague, external associate) may not submit a nomination on behalf of an individual without the nominee’s explicit consent.
  • Only one nomination per individual is accepted in the categories for a personal award.
  • Nominees will be assessed by the jury based on the quality of their project management experience, skills, and achievements.

Recommended for Transparency and Fairness

Confidentiality and Intellectual Property:

  • Applicants must ensure that any confidential or proprietary information included in the application is authorized for disclosure.
  • All submissions must respect intellectual property rights and include proper attribution where necessary.

Ethical Conduct:

  • All applicants and endorsers must adhere to ethical standards and demonstrate integrity, transparency, and professionalism in their submissions.

Deadline and Completeness:

  • Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
  • All required documentation and supporting materials must be provided at the time of submission.
