PMI Bulgaria Chapter implemented the content of PMI Project Management Ready™ for students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"
Another successful partnership strengthened the leadership position of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" in its synergy with business. PMI Bulgaria Chapter implemented the content of PMI Project Management Ready™ for students of the faculty. During the past winter semester, the certification program was introduced in an elective course for the master's degree programs of the faculty, and currently the teams are preparing its adaptation to the bachelor's degree programs.
"We are extremely happy that 70 students showed interest by enrolling to the course in its first edition, and 47 of them passed through the certification exam showing a 100% success rate," said Assoc. Prof. Nikolay Netov, Deputy Dean "Digital Transformation" at FEBA.
Less than a year ago, the faculty officially received accreditation from the International Association of MBA Business Schools (AMBA), thus becoming the first business higher school with such a status in Bulgaria and ranking among the 300 best business schools in the world.
In continuation of its mission to affirm the high level of its students and lecturers, the FEBA participates in a number of initiatives, building on its goals for quality education and working environment.
One of them is the partnership with the PMI Bulgaria Chapter, the faculty said. In the dynamics of today's business and organizational context, professionals need to have many skills from different areas to make the right decisions and be as effective as possible in the world of work. Through its certification programs, the international Project Management Institute (PMI) promotes both the acquisition of solid technical knowledge in project management and the development of soft skills to influence the stakeholders of the project.
"And if in the past it was important to be physically strong and resilient in order to earn a living, today education plays a leading role in erudition and the development of critical thinking in professionals to be successful in the world of digitalization and AI", commented the experts from PMI Bulgaria Chapter.
This belief prompts the chapter to seek cooperation with the leading universities in the country and to invest in the implementation of up-to-date practical knowledge in line with trends and innovations in the field. Through the enrichment of the curricula, the aim is to prepare students for a real working environment and expand their professional network.
Thus, during the past winter semester of the academic year 2023/2024, the content of the PMI Project Management Ready™ certification program was implemented in the elective course "PMI methodology for effective business project management" for students from the master's degree programs of FEBA at Sofia University.
The certificate covers entry-level project management, does not require any previous work experience in project management and can be acquired without the minimum educational hours required to pass the Certified Project Management Associate (CAPM)® exam. At the same time, it helps young professionals gain accreditation in project management and prove their skills by preparing them for their next step in career development.
The content of the PMI Project Management Ready™ certification program is to be implemented in the elective course "PMI Project Management Standards" for students from the bachelor's degree programs of FEBA at Sofia University.
"Essential to the success of the students was the contribution of the guest lecturers in this first edition of the course, whose shared knowledge and practical cases showed students not only how to manage projects, but also how to deal with challenges in order to be successful and ethical leaders. Their expertise, passion, and commitment to project management motivates students to develop and achieve their goals. They showed that project management is not just a theory, but a practice that can change the world." said Assoc. Prof. Netov.
