Privacy and personal data protection is one of the hot topics of the 21st century. Often called “the fossil fuels of the future” personal data already have huge business value. The digital market for instance, which uses personal data on a massive scale, is expected to reach 27.34 Billion USD by 2022. This exponential growth, combined with the enormous advance in technology, creates vast opportunities but also causes significant challenges and threats to personal data and privacy. And since personal data is actually processed in every sphere of business and life it is essential for professionals to have the skillset for adequately handling it. Project managers are no exception.

The current presentation will introduce you to the main tenets of personal data protection and moreover to the considerable changes in the legal framework on EU and national level which are about to take place in 2018. It has a double benefit – on one hand you will learn more about your obligations as project managers who process personal data, but you will also get a better understanding of your rights as data subjects.
