Europe’s biggest conference dedicated to Project Management in 2019 took place in Sofia, Bulgaria!

   
   Do you know where Europe’s biggest conference dedicated to Project Management took place in 2019?

   Wonder no more as we can share the news with you - it was the Project Management Summit Bulgaria, which took place in Sofia, Bulgaria on November 15th 2019 and had close to 900 registrations and 830+ participants. The event was organized by PMI Bulgaria Chapter and was the 9th edition of the conference, which has been scaling up every year since its start in 2011.

   The event gathered project management professionals and professionals interested in project management from Bulgaria and abroad and introduced them to the latest trends in the profession and provided opportunities for networking and of course celebration. The edition was a special one, as the PMI Bulgaria Chapter celebrated not only PMI's 50th anniversary but also the chapter's 10th birthday.

   The annual conference was previously known as PMDay Bulgaria and continued to add value to the PM community in Bulgaria and the neighbouring countries under a new name - Project Management Summit Bulgaria. The chapter hosted it at a new, bigger and modern location, namely the National Palace of Culture, which hosted Bulgaria’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.

   The participants were able to choose among a variety of amazing sessions, interactive presentations and workshops included in the program. The hosts had gathered honoured speakers from around the world (including Bulgaria, USA and Europe) to share their project management knowledge and experience. Thus the attendees were able to meet Oliver Lehmann, PMP, MSc, Kimberly Wiefling, M.S., Adrienne Gibson, Jeff Tobe, Thomas Zimmermann, PMP, PMI-ACP, Lysa Morrison, MBA, Dimitar Kostov, Vanja Tokic, ICP, CSPO, Mustafa Hafizoglu, PMP, M.Sc, Marionela Bojkova, PCC, ICF, Sandra Idjoski, Peter Popov, CSPO, ICP-ACC, Ian Jackson, Mihail Mihaylov, PMP, Dr. Bülent Gümüş, Bogdana Boncheva, PMP, Tzvetelina Teneva, Ralitza Stanoeva, Gergana Markova and many more and learn more about the cooperative transformation in project management, creating a new leadership experience, resolving crisis in customer facing projects, overcoming disengaged employees and dysfunctional organizations, as well as emotional intelligence and agile myths in the real world and many more topics. The conference also featured a panel discussion on Project Management for Startups with Mihail Mihaylov (President of PMI Bulgaria Chapter), Andrey Bachvarov, PhD, Dr. Bülent Gümüş, Stanislav Georgiev, Stephane Gantchev and Viktor Bilyanski, who took the participants into the depths of how project management best practices, tools and techniques can be of use for the startups, which is also the main objective of the EU funded Outspeed Startup Project, carried out by PMI Bulgaria PMI Turkey, PMI France and PMI Slovenia Chapters. The event also included a session by Boryana Georgieva (Vice President for Professional Development at the Bulgarian Chapter) which reflected on the chapter’s experience in a program for social good and concentrated on kids and the amazing results that have been achieved with a handful of ready to serve the community. An official celebration party dedicated to the PMI's 50th anniversary and PMI Bulgaria Chapter's 10th birthday was the highlight of the event closure where networking and fun mingled.

   PMI Bulgaria Chapter sends a special thank-you note to all amazing speakers who took part in the event as well as to the 50+ volunteers who took in the organization, as well as to all attendees from Bulgaria and abroad for their energy that made the conference a huge success!
